I can drive the ball around 200-220 consistently but i end up getting in the high 100’s – how can i fix my short game – it usually takes me 3-4 putts.
I do not know where to practise – there is no where in my backyard to practise – where can i practise
Get a 5 gallon bucket and a bunch of balls….either find some grass or I used to hit of my Moms door mat…..at practice chipping into the bucket…….

practice and spend more time on the putting green instead of just hitting balls the whole time…you also need to get a putter that you can trust

First, take a lesson or two to develop the proper golf swing for your woods and your irons. Then at the range start by hitting 10 balls with your shortest irons with a half swing, then hit 10 balls with a 3/4 swing and 10 balls with a full swing. Repeat the process if you aren’t satisfied.. When you have developed a degree of proficiency, repeat the process with the next shortest club etc. You should now be able to hit the chip shots and medium to short irons with some accuracy thereby eliminating the bad putting. Now work on your putting on the practice green.

You have done a good job analyzing your biggest area for improvement.
You need to improve your putting. I suggest you set up a practice area in your home. Do you have a carpeted hallway or other carpeted area where you could practice a ten foot putt? You can pick up a practice putting hole at the golf store for less than $5.
Build a putting practice routine. Then work on it as often as possible. Once you groove the proper putting stroke you will turn your putting around and consistently shoot in the 90s.

You already know your weak game so now start practicing. Short game play includes wedges, nine irons, and putter for beginners. The method depends on where the ball lands. High grass use a wedge (sand also) and just rough turf a nine. Chipping is a matter of touch not strength, use no movement other than arms and shoulders to control ball direction. Now putting depends on sighting the surface of the green to the hole and having a smooth arm swing hitting the ball. Do you have a park or road divider near you? Great place to putt on a grass surface. Practice as much as you can to develop a consistent hit then try it on a real golf course.

Practice truly makes perfect. There is no secret to perfecting your short game, it’ll honestly just happen after a few(or a lot) of times. However, if you would like sooner results, hit the driving range. Find out exactly how far you can hit each club that you’d be most likely to use in that 100 yards or less area. Also, chipping, can be difficult for some. For me, it works best when I bring my pitching wedge straight back and give a little twist/cock to my wrist when I approach the ball. See what works for you. For putting, that’s really just a thing of patience. Try to notice the lie of the green, is it going to break left? Is it really uphill or downhill? With these thoughts in mind, just gently bring your arms back, WITHOUT MOVING YOUR TORSO, and swing through. Whatever you do, don’t drag the putt to the left if your a righty(to the right if your a lefty.) This is what most 3 year olds tend to do on a miniature putt-putt course. Ever notice there scoring? Putting is rather simple if you have patience and keep your putts straight. Good luck to you and Happy Holidays!

When you putt, you’ll be more consistent if you use your shoulders and lateral muscles, not the forearms and wrists. The most important thing is distance. Use your big muscles not the small ones, and concentrate on using the center of the putter face.
Best of luck!
